Busted! Don’t Believe These Painting Myths!
Paint serves as a protective layer over your walls, which repels water and heat. But with time, it erodes and loses its protective properties, which is why your house must be repainted every four to seven years, depending on the level of deterioration visible. A seamless coat of paint also improves a homes’ longevity and saves money on future repair costs.
Unfortunately, as numerous myths surround the subject of painting, you may feel intimidated and confused when deciding how to get a paint job done right. Similarly, by believing inaccurate information, you could end up with poor results and hefty bills to redo your painting project. To help you steer clear of misleading information when it comes to painting, Cindy’s Painting has debunked some of the most widely believed myths about painting.
Myth 1: Painting is easy.
This is a myth as there are many challenges associated with a painting job. For quality results, you need to understand the process of painting and know the right techniques to ensure a smooth, even finish. Moreover, you must have all the essential equipment to complete the job safely and effectively.
Myth 2: It’s alright to paint over wallpaper.
Painting over a surface with an underlying wallpaper can lead to shabby work. Wallpaper can be an amazing wall covering, but it can also become a mess when painted over, especially if the paper peels off or bubbles form under it. For this reason, it is imperative to remove any wall covering, prep it effectively, and only then begin painting for a lasting consistency.
Myth 3: Building exteriors can be painted when it is four degrees outside.
This is not true as the paint will not dry properly. Exterior painting should be done when it’s no less than ten degrees outside to ensure it cures properly.
